CLINICAL EFFECT OF DEXPANTHENOL

Abstract
|
|
|
It is an essential component of coenzyme A Which is necessary for acetylation of choline to form acetylcholic acid. Acethylicholic acid is an essential component for intestinal movement. In order to measure the effectiveness of Dexpanthenol, the drug was injected into 56 patients over 15 years old during explolaparotomy and 64 patients were used as a control group
We then compared the 2 groups according to age, sex, anesthetic agents used during the operation. We also compared organs operated on to recovery of bowel sound, gas passing, defecation and length of time admitted to hospital using the student T-test.
(1) Result according to Age, the study group was diveided into 3 age groups :
15-40years old, 41-60years old, and over 60 years old, The dexpanthenol injected group showed reduced amount of time for recovery of bowel sound, gas passing and defecation compared to control group in all age group(P＜0.05)
(2) Regardless of sex, the dexpanthenol infected group showed reduced amount of time for recovery of bowel sound, gas passing and defecation compared to control group.(P＜0.05)
(3) Anesthetic agents used during the operation were enflurane, etc. But regardless of kinds of anesthetic agents used, the dexpanthenol injected group showed reduced amount-of time for recovery of intestinal activity.(P＜0.05)
(4) The length of operation was divided into 3 groups : ＜2hrs, 2-4 hrs,＞ 4hrs and it showed that except for time of revovery of bowel sound in the ＜2hr group, the dexpanthenol injected group had reduced time in recovery of bowel sound, gas passing and defecation.
(5) The organs operated were duodenum, hepatobiliary system, appendix, colorectum. The dexpanthenol injected group showed short amount of time for recovery of intestinal movement and especially operation for colorectum showed considerable effective in reducing length of time for recovery of bowel sound, gass passing and defecation
In conclusion Dexpanthenol proved to be effective in reducing amount of time needed for activeity of intestine to recover and showed neither complications nor side effects.
Thus dexpanthenol is a very safe and effsctive drug in improvement of peristalsis and pre-venting of paralytic ileus
